Google Messages utilises real-time spam detection in an effort to make chatting and texting easier and safer. On occasion this feature on your phone can auto-filter legitimate messages to the spam folder. As a result, for users it can appear that alert notifications from ProductRecallNZ are not being sent or received.
Should this be occurring for you, in the first instance follow the steps outlined below.
For Android / Google Messages please follow these steps:
- Open the Google Messages app,
- Tap your profile icon/initials in the top right. A list of options will display,
- Select Spam & blocked. A list of messages will display,
- Open the message from 4777 (ProductRecallNZ) and tap "Not spam" (or the exclamation mark icon) at the top.
Subsequent SMS messages from ProductRecallNZ should no longer be automatically filtered as spam. Should you continue to encounter issues please contact the support team.
Additional tips to avoid legitimate messages being filtered:
- Save Contacts: Add the number 4777 to your contacts as ProductRecallNZ; Google often treats known contacts as safe.
- Turn Off Spam Protection: If you prefer to manage spam manually, you can toggle this off in Settings > Spam protection on your phone.
