What are the benefits and how do I share my product data with GS1 and retailers?
You have my data but I can't see it?
My company has data but no images?
I think my product data is wrong/I need to update it
How does it work?
GS1 operates three different data services that can be used by suppliers and all are being accessed by ProductRecallNZ to grab your data. We use Media Library for images and ProductFlow and Product Vault for data. Learn more about these services here.
Data added to the new My Products service will be accessible shortly.
To pull your data follow the 4 steps below:
Step 1 - When you arrive on the 'Products' page of your notification you will notice a new search field.
Step 2 - Search by keyword or barcode to see if we have your product and image.
Note - the search will work once you have typed 3 characters or pasted in a barcode
Step 3 - Hover over and select a product
Step 4 - Watch your data populate like magic
I can't find my product(s)?
If you are unable to find your product(s) it is likely that we don't store your data.
You will be looking at one of two possible messages if that is the case -
Message 1 - We don't have any of your product or image data stored with us
If you see the message below it is because we don't have any of your data stored with us. Don't worry, in this case you can still just enter the fields below manually.
If you get this message and are interested in registering your data with us and understanding the benefits read our next paragraph within this article.
Message 2 - We have some of your data but might be missing the product you are searching for
If you see the message below it is because we have some of your product data but not the product you are searching. In this case you can make another search or still add that product below manually.
If you get this message and are interested in registering the product data that may be missing with us read our next paragraph within this article.
What are the benefits and how do I share my product data with GS1 and retailers?
Having your data registered with us can have numerous benefits and not just simply being able to find it in a recall.
The data we are sharing actually comes from two different services that are used to help range your products with retailers. The data itself comes from a service called the National Product Catalogue whilst the images come from a service called Media Library.
ProductFlow (aka National Product Catalogue)-
ProductFlow is a data verification service and synchronisation tool that enables suppliers to easily create, store and share product and pricing data with retailers. What used to be controlled and created through manual processes like user buying forms (UBF) ProductFlow takes the hassle away. Suppliers ranging new products or making product changes (including pricing) can log into ProductFlow and seamlessly create and send data to their retailers. This can then be easily retrieved by retailer category managers to help get your products on shelves as well as feed into online stores.
In grocery the ProductFlow is currently in use by over 500 suppliers as well as Foodstuffs and Woolworths NZ.
If you want to know whether your company is already using ProductFlow or if you are interested in learning how it might benefit your business please email productrecallnz@gs1nz.org and we can set up a call with one of our team.
MediaLibrary -
MediaLibrary is a digital asset management solution. It allows you to store, organise, find and share all digital content including photos, videos, safety data sheets, and product claim documents within your organisation and with trading partners.
It is most commonly used for product image sharing with your retail partners to help ensure the right product image can be found on their website. Instead of constantly emailing product images to your category managers, why not store all your high quality images with retailers in one place?
"We don't want to rely on emails for images any more... we want a one stop shop"
- Kitty Ling, Woolworths New Zealand Limited
If you want to know whether your company is already using MediaLibrary or if you are interested in learning how it might benefit your business please email productrecallnz@gs1nz.org and we can set up a call with one of our team.
You have my data but I can't see it?
GS1 is pulling data currently from three different services: Media Library for images; and Product Flow and Product Vault for data. If you are using these services but still can't see any data please email productrecallnz@gs1nz.org and we will get in touch to help out.
My company has data but no images?
If you are able to see your data but no images it is because you are only using ProductFlow and/or Product Vault, our data services. To be able to view your images and pull them down you need to have an active Media Library account. Having a Media Library account will allow you to see your product images in recall but the real benefit is to continuously share them with your retailers.
If you have any questions about Media Library please email productrecallnz@gs1nz.org
I think my product data is wrong/I need to update it -
If you think incorrect data is appearing for anyone of your products you should get in touch with GS1 by emailing support@gs1nz.org.
Let us know that you are using the Product Recall 'search feature' and the GTIN/barcode in question. It may be that your data in either Product Vault or ProductFlow is a little out of date and just needs a refresh.
